NUIM Mature Students Society

About us

The Mature student’s society was founded in 1998, our society was formed to assist and support mature students who have returned to education and who have successfully achieved a place here in NUIM Maynooth.

Our main objective is to guide and assist mature students coming on campus; also mature students with disabilities are most welcome and cared for.

We also provide a coffee room (gratefully donated by the Student’s Union here in NUI Maynooth) a room in which students can chill-out, make new friends and express their ideas, opinions and other issues. We are proud of this coffee room as we are the only mature student society in Ireland to date with these facilities.

Our society organises events of different nature at least once a month through out the year, e.g. Family day, theatre night in Dublin etc. Wednesday is ‘Coffee’ morning with free! cakes and biscuits etc. Social nights out are also on the agenda, pub quiz, music sessions with freelance musicians, street jazz on Monday nights with Melvin Sayers, and many other internal and external events.

Mature students attending our university also contribute through their varied life experiences, which enriches the overall learning environment, the student body and staff as a whole. Mature Students today enjoy the ‘Maynooth Mature Student Experience’.
